Expectations

I don’t always follow common wisdom, and not always because I’m not aware of it. I believe setting expectations is more powerful than succumbing to common wisdom. Yes, there are major holidays at the end of the year, and many companies shut down for most of the last two weeks of December. Yes, things start up slowly once the new year starts. In today’s market, with so much automation, because of the holidays, fewer people are applying, so there’s less competition, which is only the logical part. The bigger factor is your understanding of how energy.

Let me go all woo-woo on you for a moment. We know that thoughts are energy and that likes draws like. This does not mean repeating positive affirmations, but rather fortifying your expectations of a desired outcome. Look up The Contest Queen Helen Hadsell. She even wrote a book about her process. I’m not advocating following her protocol, or entering contests. I’m offering a look into the idea of setting your expectations for your desired outcome. Common wisdom is ubiquitous, ergo the “common.” However, the wisdom is not inherent.

It’s hard to go against the flow if it’s not your personality. It’s hard to ignore those who are trying to be helpful. I’m not saying I have it mastered. I’m always working on expectations. I’m expecting to have a resume/recruiting business with overjoyed clients this year, and I do need reminders of this expectation.

For job seekers, set your expectations. Understand that what you want comes to you. Know that the perfect job is also seeking you as surely as you know the sun rises each morning. Imagine it! Envision it! Own it!
